NWA Cannabis & Wellness Expo 2025
Expanding Access and Strengthening Arkansas’ Cannabis Community
The Challenge
Arkansas’ cannabis industry continues to grow, yet patient access in Northwest Arkansas remains limited. Many residents qualified for the state’s medical cannabis program but had not completed the certification process. Clear information, convenience and trust were often missing from their path to becoming patients.
Bud Agency and Arkansas Times set out to design an experience that would address these barriers directly. The goal was to bring patients, physicians, dispensaries, cultivators, processors and wellness professionals together in a setting built to encourage learning, connection and meaningful action.
Bud’s Solution
Bud approached the NWA Cannabis and Wellness Expo as a strategic platform rather than a traditional event. The focus was on delivering value in the moment while laying the groundwork for long-term industry growth.
- A streamlined path to patient certification
At the center of the Expo was a certification hub designed for clarity and efficiency. Patients could meet with physicians on-site, complete the process and leave with a clear path forward. This intentional approach resulted in 492 new medical cannabis certifications, a number that reflects meaningful growth for patient access in Arkansas. - A marketplace that connected the entire industry
The Expo gathered dispensaries, cultivators, processors, financial institutions, wellness brands and service providers in one cohesive environment. Attendees gained knowledge and compared options, and businesses built relationships that support growth across te cannabis sector. - An event structure that fueled the local economy
Vendor activity, attendee spending and event operations contributed an estimated 257,000 dollars in economic impact for Northwest Arkansas. The Expo demonstrated how a thoughtfully designed cannabis event can support local commerce and create value beyond the industry itself.
Results
492 new medical cannabis patients an $1.77 Millon in projected sales
With the average Arkansas patient spending approximately 300 dollars per month, these certifications represent an estimated 1.77 million dollars in annual projected sales for dispensaries and related businesses across the state.
1,277 total attendees
Walk-in attendance nearly doubled advance ticket sales. This response highlighted a clear regional need for accessible education and patient-focused services.
Marketing Tactics
A full-funnel campaign engineered for conversion — not just attendance
Bud Agency designed a multi-channel marketing system that moved audiences from awareness to action with precision. Every tactic was aligned around a single goal: drive qualified attendees and convert them into patients and customers.
Performance-driven paid media
Bud deployed targeted campaigns across Meta and Reddit, focusing on audiences most likely to convert: curious consumers, prospective patients and cannabis-adjacent communities. Creative and messaging were optimized around education, trust and urgency, resulting in strong pre-registration performance and a significant surge in day-of attendance.
Conversion-focused email marketing
Email was used not just as a reminder tool, but as a conversion funnel. Segmented messaging guided audiences from initial awareness to commitment, addressing common barriers (confusion, skepticism, process friction) and positioning the Expo as the easiest, most trusted path to becoming a patient.
High-impact traditional media integration
To dominate regional awareness, Bud layered in radio, print and out-of-home placements. Billboards launched four weeks ahead of the event created sustained visibility, while radio placements in the final week added frequency and urgency, ensuring the Expo was top-of-mind leading into the weekend.
On-the-ground activation that built trust
Bud’s street team strategy extended the campaign beyond screens into real-world environments. By activating directly at dispensaries and high-traffic community locations, the team engaged potential attendees face-to-face, answering questions, building credibility and driving last-mile conversions.
Public relations that positioned the Expo as a resource
Earned media played a critical role in shaping perception. Press outreach and live radio interviews framed the Expo as a trusted, educational platform for patients, helping overcome stigma and hesitation while expanding reach to new audiences.
A more connected and forward-thinking industry
By uniting patients, healthcare providers and industry leaders, the Expo strengthened the foundation of Arkansas’ cannabis market. The event reinforced Bud Agency’s role as a strategic partner capable of designing experiences that influence both business outcomes and community growth.
